Audiences were dismayed by the shortened season, but the Emmy-winning comedy did not disappoint. The writing and ensemble cast prove the sitcom is not lost, with its strongest season yet. The “Cigarettes” episode showcased the incredible talent to tackle an important topic with brevity and humanness. And we all cheered when Gregory finally fixed Janine’s light.

Netflix’s award-winning animated drama ended last month in a three-act arc, concluding the Arcane storyline between sister cities Zaun and Piltover. Storytellers continue to prove doubters wrong that animation is some lesser medium when some of the year’s best narratives, characters, and performances have come from hand-drawn characters. While the story of Jinx and Vi seems finished, three other series in the League of Legends universe are in the works.

The second season of the foreign-language family saga saw our characters traverse the world war, battle American capitalism, and try to escape the sins of the past. The season’s highlight culminated in a surprising conclusion for Noa, the intellectual college-bound son, who remains missing in the present timeline. I’m hoping this brilliant tapestry of life receives a third season.

The brilliant comedy won audiences and critics with its strongest season. Both Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder matched laughs and wits in an explosive season finale, setting up a new dynamic for season four. Emmy-worthy addition deserving of the win this year. Take that chef!

Diarra Kilpatrick produced one of the year’s biggest surprises in BET+’s best series. Period. The dark comedy found its soul in its millennial sentiments of self-discovery as Kilpatrick plays a soon-to-be-divorced teacher who falls for the perfect guy. When she thinks he’s ghosted her, she winds up falling down a hole of criminal activity and revenge years in the making. Failing to renew this series would be the flop of the year.
